Honey Fungus

Honey Fungus
Apologies for the dearth of postings, I may have remembered to post enough entries to cover my absence whilst in France (wonderful, slideshow to follow soon) but forgot that i didn’t have any spares for when I came back and found myself very busy (and still without an internet connection.

Anyway, yesterday I came across several occurrences of Honey Fungus….not good for the various trees around here if there’s already this much around.

  1. We got rid of our bad outbreak five or six years ago by dowsing the ground well with Armillotox. It's now not registered for such use (stupid new rules requiring manufacturers to spend hundreds of thousands on applying for licences), but it still works well.
*crosses fingers and hopes no recurrence is seen as this is the danger time of year*

  2. I've heard that the best treatment is to get another fungi growing there isntead (though I forget which one). Personally I'd rather a fungi than a chemical.

Probably best avoided Kaz, not poisononous to most folk but can give a pretty upset stomach in some I think!
