Still Green

Still Green
Though it’s almost the end of October there’s still a lot of green left in them there trees. I’m not sure how much is down to the unseasonably warm weather as most of the colour changes are down to shortening day lengths I think. Strange.

Continuing the strange weather theme whilst also switching to a “one that got away” theme, on Tuesday I saw a Painted Lady butterfly…..

  1. It's not unseasonable. I recall several warm late Octobers. The great storm of 1987 was a tad earlier (October 16) but all the trees were completely green still and in full leaf, like this year and last year. That's what made it worse. It is so nice, though.

  2. Strange "leaf situation" here in Manitoba as well. We've had some hard frosts and one significant snow that thankfully melted, but although the leaves have died, they hang there – resolutely refusing to fall – despite some very strong winds!

This is a beautiful photo – I'd like to go for a walk through it!

  3. The trees here in the Lammermuir Hills in the Scottish Borders are nearly all bare, only a few are still hanging on to a few leaves.
