Somehow the rather ragged appearance of this mollusc’s shell has it looking more like the Rams horn from which it gets its name than any specimen I’ve seen before.
NB: I got a Wellington boot full of water whilst getting this shot so I hope it was worth it…….I’m sure snails are your favourite.

Definitely worth it. Snails are fascinating. This one never seems to make it to my balcony so it is wonderful to be able to see a close-up photo. I shall be on the look-out for one.

oh, yes, worth it! we are so damp here this spring that slugs are everywhere! but snails' shells are what make them imteresting…
